I received my December Ipsy box over the weekend however, in my Christmas induced craze I tossed it aside. It didn’t contain a gift to be wrapped, thus it had no importance to me. I finally took the time to go through it yesterday and am again pleased with my Ipsy subscription. I received five full sized samples from, Nicka K New York Nail Color, J.Cat Beauty, Pop Beauty, Be a Bombshell and Ardell.
Nicka K New York Nail Color: Classic Taupe
Nicka polish is DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde free. The Classic Taupe color I received is a very nice neutral tan and compliments my skin color well. The formula is creamy and applies smoothly. The applicator is slightly thicker than standard applicators, I’d say a little bit smaller than the Sally Hansen Salon Complete polish brushes. This polish retails at $4.99 and if it was available to purchase in stores near me I’d definitely be tempted to grab a few.
I received another chunky lip pencil to add to my ever growing collection with this one. This pencil has a very creamy texture and stays on for quite a while. I like the fact that the pencil is a bit smaller than other chunky pencils. The smaller pencil allows for more precise application. My only complaint with this item is the color. I just don’t look good in bright red, it’s a hard color for me to pull off. I will most likely mix this color with a lighter color to get a shade a wearable shade. These pencils retail at $3.99 and I am considering purchasing another color simply because I like the way they feel and apply.
Pop Beauty Bright Up Your Life Eyeshadow Trio – Naturally Bare
While the colors in this palette are definitely something that I would use, I don’t think I like the color payoff they produce. They aren’t as pigmented as some of the other shadows that I own with similar colors. My Maybelline trios produce better color than this. I feel like a lot of layering will be needed when/if I choose to wear them. I will probably use the lightest color the most, for subtle highlighting and what not. I am also not a fan of how impossibly hard it is for me to open this palette. I nearly ripped off a nail getting it open. I realize that I probably received a defective palette, but I thought I’d make my complaint known.
Be a Bombshell: The One Stick – Sunset
My second Be a Bombshell item from Ipsy, I like this one just as much as the previous. The One Stick is advertised as an all-over stick to be used as blush, lip color and eyeshadow. I certainly will not be using this as eyeshadow, but I like the dewy finish it gives when used as a blush and this is definitely a color I can wear on my lips. I look best with coral toned pinks and reds. This item retails at $16. I haven’t used it enough to say whether or not I’d be willing to purchase another, but I am happy to add it to my collection.
Ardell Natural Lashes – 120 Demi
I was most excited to see this in my Ipsy bag. I had been meaning to get my butt down to the drugstore to purchase some lashes for the holidays and now I don’t have to! It’s a Festivus miracle! Thank you Ipsy. I’ve used Ardell before and like their lashes. These particular lashes are very natural looking and blend in well with my natural lashes. I think this was a perfect addition to their holiday bags this year. Ardell Retails at $3.99 and is very affordable. This is great for me, as I’m a falsie noob and tend to destroy my lashes rather easily.
Last but not least, the bag! I love this month’s bag. It’s classy very classy looking and will be accompanying me to my work desk. Overall, I am very satisfied with this bag. Some may complain, but I like the fact that Ipsy included a few lower priced items in this bag. It’s not often that I purchase high end makeup, so getting to try things that are more in my everyday price range is very helpful to me. This bag was well worth the 10 dollars I spent on it.

*For those of you curious as to what the heck Festivus is, I have a post coming explaining the little-known holiday and my affinity for it.
